There is something especially soothing about hand-piecing a scrappy quilt.
It's a mindless, relaxing kind of monotony.
I fussy cut the centres.
And then after that sort of kept to dark to mid value fabrics around the fussy cut and then light values for the background.
Each block may be the same shape but the use of fabrics and colours makes it seem like I am piecing a new block each time.

I think I started this the beginning of May and with lots of breaks along the way, by end July it is assembled.

It looks great and was going to ask how long it took until I read that bit! I can't believe it came together that quickly though!

ReplyDeleteI love your quilt. Like you, I love hand piecing. I find it so relaxing. I love the scrappy look of your quilt too. I'm going to have to give this one a try. I didn't understand how to print off the pattern, but think I have a copy and will enlarge it. Thanks for the idea. Beautiful quilt.

ReplyDeleteYour quilts are spectacular. I just love how they turn out. They often remind me of Kaffe Fassett style, without the Kaffe. ;-) So, the question remains - will you handpiece another?

ReplyDeleteThat is exactly how I feel about hand piecing. It is the process which is so special to me so when people want to hurry me with a machine,or fast techniques I cant understand that.
