Lost

According to the Royal Mail website, an item posted internationally is not regarded as lost until 25 days have passed.

Today was the last day for quilts to arrive for Quiltcon.

Today it is 32 days since I posted this.

Frustratingly, like a computer download icon that doesn't quite move that final last bit, the message on the tracking website remains the same: "the item has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" (their caps, not mine).

I think it is LOST (my caps)

:-(

  1. I will keep my fingers crossed that it may still turn up. How frustrating (and heartbreaking)!

  2. Oh no! Crossing my fingers that it shows up soon and makes it into the show. I know I breathed a sigh of relief when I got the email that my quilt arrived safely for QuiltCon. Hopefully you'll hear something soon.

  10. I really feel for you, how horrible. There's nothing worse than waiting, waiting for news that never comes.

  11. What a cool quilt!
Don´t give up hope. I once waited 3 months and then the parcel arrived. (from US to Germany)
I order a lot of fabrics online in the US and everything from one to eight weeks seems to be normal. Maybe it is the same from Europe to the US. I keep my fingers crossed!!!

  21. That must be so frustrating! But I'm sure it will turn up somewhere. Sometimes it takes months for an item to travel around the world and then turns up on your own doorstep again!

  22. Oh no!! :( that is so upsetting. I hope that it's just the slow snail pace of the postal system and it is somehow in transit. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for you. This quilt is full of awesomeness.....

  26. I'm so sorry. Take it from someone in the states- it might just be traveling around and not really lost. Keep us updated.

  27. I hope you have asked them to look a bit around for it. They said that they did not have my quilts twice. But they did and they do. I love this quilt and am so hoping it arrives so I can see it.

  28. Don't give up hope yet. Fingers crossed it will still turn up. You must be feeling so sad and cross about this though.

  32. Hi, I really hope it is not lost!! I posted a similar package 32 days ago, and got the same scaring email that it had not arrived yet. Post Office site also states that it is still in transit - meanwhile I don't know....

  33. Oh what a shame! I really hope it finally turns up SOMEWHERE.

  34. Oh, man! That is one of the worst things that could happen to a project you worked on for a long time. I hope it will resuface some time soon.

  35. Ugh, no way! Fingers and toes crossed!

  40. It's the pits that your quilt didn't make the deadline but don't give up on it. I posted a package to the States on 26 November and believe it or not it took 7 weeks to arrive at it's destination. Got my fingers crossed for you.....

  41. Oh my Alison, I am so sorry. I hope it is found soon :)

  42. Oh no! That would be too awful! I hope that they just haven't updated their tracking system properly - that happened to me with a package once. Keeping fingers and toes crossed that it shows up soon!

  43. Don't give up hope! It may very well turn up.

  44. Nothing I can say will make you feel better about the postal service losing your quilt. It is heart breaking to say the least. We all send you prays that it is found and make it to the show on time.

  45. I sent a quilt to Germany a couple of years ago. It was lost for over 4 months, and then finally came back to me. I had to pay for postage again to get it back, but I was so relieved. Hopefully yours will come back to you!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Heartbreak! Sending best wishes that it reappears, sooner than later.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hope your quilt is revealed at it's destination soon.

  48. Oh, this is so sad. :( Way to go, USPS. I bet it will turn up again someday, but so sad that it might miss Quilt Con!

    ReplyDelete
  49. So sorry to hear about your lost quilt. Keep the faith! It will be found.

    ReplyDelete
  50. So sorry, I'm sure it will eventually reach Austin. Quilters are always traveling to Europe. Once it arrives in the U.S. maybe someone could hand carry it back to England. Just a thought.

    ReplyDelete
  51. So sorry!!!! Hopefully it will get to Austin soon!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh no, I'm so sorry - I hope it turns up. :-(

  53. So not fair! Feeling for you and hope it makes it home eventually!

  54. Positive thoughts and prayers to St. Anthony are directed toward you and your wayward quilt!

  55. We've had some wild weather in the US recently... Hoping your lovely package is stashed safe in a post office & will find it's way back to you (or to QC and they graciously accept that fact that our PO leaves a little to be desired and accept your quilt). So sorry. I can't even imagine the anguish at losing a work of art...and missing an opportunity to have it shown.

  56. I've just popped over from Melissa's blog (Happy Quilting) to say that I am so sorry about your lost package. I am sure it will find its way back to you or finally be delivered. Take care!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I have a feeling it will be found! There was a big snowstorm and a lot of things were delayed USPS and UPS. Keeping my fingers crossed!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Don't give up hope! It will probably turn up yet.

  59. Have you posted your quilt on the website Lost Quilt Come Home? If not perhaps you should, lots of quilts posted there have happy endings and returned to their homes. Go to lostquilt.com Sorry to hear and wish you the best. Sue

  60. So sorry to hear about this. I really hope this turns up somewhere and makes it way home.

  61. Your quilt is beautiful! I hope it is found for you. After years of working with a company that shipped internationally every day I can 100% say with assurance I have never heard people getting more things lost in the mail than quilters. It is such a shame!!! I love the pillow too that you made for Melissa over at Happy Quilting.

  62. What a stunning quilt. I really hope it will be found and that you will be reunited at some stage. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

  63. I reckon the postal workers have opened the package and are enjoying your quilt!

I am sure it will turn up though eventually - too big to have accidentally fallen between machines or something!

I am so sorry that it happened on your first venture into exhibitions and hope it doesn't put you off as you have such a great talent which could inspire many others!

  64. Keep your chin up it may just have taken a little side trip ( to where we don't know) but I have my fingers crossed It will turn up ! The US postal service doesn't really loose much mail but it can sometimes get sidetracked. Think positive thoughts.
