Take a little bit of this
Add some of this
Do quite a bit of this
And you end up with this
Even better, the pattern is f
ree
Is ludicrously easy to put together as no triangles are actually cut

I'm not normally a fan of selvedges but on this occasion I thought it was appropriate |
Is a great way to showcase some of your favourite prints
|
"What will you get for us if we hold it up for you?"
And, if like me, you go the scrappy background route; a brilliant way to use up lots of neutral scraps.
It's my new favourite quilt.
I don't normally manage a quilt top that quickly but I was aided in no small part by the weather.
Over the course of two days we were battered by a once in a lifetime blizzard which is unheard of for this corner of the world. We can go years and years without any snow or even frost.
Between Sunday evening and Tuesday afternoon, the sky just disappeared completely and we lived in a swirling grey haze.
In a matter of a few hours, roads became like this
The airport looked like this
|
Cars disappeared
And over 100 trees came down in the 65 mile an hour winds.
Clearly, in instances like this, the only thing you can really do is make a quilt :-)
O, yes....Well done!!!!!!!!

I will glad to see you ! Welcome! )))))))))
What a beautiful quilt top! i would never have thought of putting prints like that together but they absolutely work and the end result is fantastic. :)
ReplyDeleteThat was a seriously good snow storm! And even better quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw on the weather forecast how bad snow blizzards were heading your way I thought of you and did wonder how bad they really were. I didn't think your part of the world got much in the way of snow normally. LOVE your quilt. The Liberty with the Leopard print is inspired.
ReplyDeleteMother Nature is really confused, but she made you work magic with your new quilt! It’s beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI heard on the radio several times that all airports were closed, but I had no idea it was this bad!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you can sew, patch & quilt AND blog LOL
Lovely quilt; it almost looks like a big bag of sweeties (or is that just me)
The world has gone mad! We've had no snow, and you've had a total dumping!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is fabulous!
GOSH! I think you chose the best option and stayed home to sew!! Keep safe x
ReplyDeletewhat a great quilt top design. You can keep all that snow, I keep seeing numerous bloggers with snow and it makes me cold thinking about it (it's going to be nearly 70 here in sunny NC today). I hope that wasn't your car that the tree got -- it always seems to me that trees pick nice cars to fall on, what's up with that. best of luck digging out
ReplyDeleteThat was quite an impressive storm - and that is from someone who lives in Michigan :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to hole up and sew such a fun quilt!
This is so unexpected and lovely! When I saw your fabric the first quilt that popped to mind was Material Obsession's Jungle Boogie - love that I was surprised instead!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. That cheetah print is wild! Do you recall who makes it?
Wow! I am loving this quilt top, it's so unexpected and it looks awesome! That snow is crazy.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought you were crazy with those fabric choices, but you were inspired! I will never doubt you again. GREAT quilt top!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is beautiful and the weather, not so much!
ReplyDeleteGenius!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you stayed safely inside and made a gorgeous quilt top rather than venturing out in the snow!
ReplyDeleteWhoa. That was quite the nasty bit of weather. More suited to the likes of where I live! LOL
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is wild and wonderful! Love the scrappy low-volume fabrics for the background combined with Liberty and that yummy cheetah print. Gorgeous finish (and great way to spend the time indoors during such awful weather).
Loving your quilt - quirky and so colourful - reminds me of sweets at Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteholy snowbanks! what a wicked storm, hope everything recovers quickly. I love the quilt fabric combination. the light neutrals make it look like they have sheen to them!
ReplyDeleteOH MY awesome quilt! nasty weather!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! And what a storm, I hope you stayed safe and warm. It is always pretty sad when the weather brings down so many of the old trees and rips branches off the others.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are stunning. The first one looks like it should be a beautiful painting. The second, also. You clearly did the absolutely right thing to stay indoors and make a quilt top!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE this quilt! Leopard is one of my favorites along with polka dots...very well done! I'm very interested to see what you choose for binding!
ReplyDeleteWOW...on both the quilt and the weather...
ReplyDeleteSo sad about the amount of trees lost but your quilt top is just beautiful. One thing I admire about your quilting (there are lots of others) is that you are not a crowd follower. I like that and mean that in the best possible way :)
ReplyDeleteStunning quilt top - I love the design!
ReplyDeleteFor sure, I'm not complaining anymore about the return a snowfall over night! But free pattern? Where? YOurs looks so lively!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the quilt! I can't get over the snow--oh my gosh!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for mentioning the shipping deal with Hancocks. I am definitely going to stock up on some fabrics for quilt backings. Thanks!
That is a combination I would not have thought of.
ReplyDeleteI love this! Your scrappy neutral background glows.
ReplyDeleteA clever pattern and an unexpected combo of fabrics make this such a wonderful quilt top. Golly gumboots that's a lot of snow!!
