I went to town and some on the quilting...I think.
A combination of getting bored doing the same pattern and wanting to extend myself beyond the fail-safe meandering quilting.
To begin with, I thought I'd leave the Liberty prints void of quilting.
But there was too much poofy puffiness going on so I rectified that with some hand-quilting.
I love the backside.
It may well be my rear of the year.
I used up all the little triangle off cuts and completely randomly pieced them into a scrappy, neutral back. It was an excellent way to use up lots of little pieces.
Although my sewing room floor may beg to differ.

Wonderful quilt! Love the liberty/animal print mix! Your back is brilliant though. Wowsers.:)
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those cases of which side is the back and which is the front - they're both equally beautiful! I love the way you did some hand quilting - good decision, in my opinion, not that you asked for it! :-)
ReplyDeleteHa! "Rear of the year" :) It *does* look like its own front, but I have to say the liberty + kimba combo really does it for me on this one. Fantastic finish!
ReplyDeleteBack of this quilt it's the best back I've ever seen! It's so gorgeous that it could be used as front:)
ReplyDeleteOh wow - I love the quilt, but I think I like the back even more!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous and would definitely win 'Rear of the year'!

You made me laugh, rear of the year - brilliant! It reminds me of those lovely fabric wrapped bead necklaces. Great way to showcase your liberty, love the addition of the leopard print too :)
ReplyDeleteThis quilting is stunning! Great work!
ReplyDeleteFabulous quilting, the fact that there are lots of things going on makes it really interesting. I love the back as much as the front.
ReplyDeleteYou do indeed have a rear of the year! Loving both front and back and the quilting looks fab!
ReplyDeleteI have some D&G shoes which would match that quilt perfectly. And given they're impossible to walk in, would be best used to snuggle under that quilt in. It's gorgeous. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteThe whole thing is completely fabulous - I never would have imagined Liberty and leopard print could play together so nicely. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful. I love the contrast of the Liberty with the neutrals.
ReplyDeleteTotally rear of the year!! Great fabric choices!
ReplyDeleteOh Lordy you've gone and done it again haven't you? Can't you just produce a really crap quilt one day? ;) The Liberty, the neutrals, the design, the movement, the Beyonce backside yada yada yada is all absolutely beautiful. *grrrr*
ReplyDeleteSo stunning! You are clever xxx
ReplyDeleteWow! Love the back soooo much ( not to say the front isn't brilliant too.) Another amazing quilt!

ReplyDeleteLovely! Both the front and the back are great, but that is definitely the rear of the year. Ha ha. I like your random quilting, I think it really suits the quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, but I think I love the backside more than the front ;) and the front is fabulous!

ReplyDeleteThe front looks like gently twirling ribbons and the back is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis looks fabulous - isn't it amazing what quilting does to a quilt top.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought it was 2 quilts that you were showing, I'm thinking where's the backside of the first one... Doh! Both sides are brilliant!! Love the quilting, you had a party with those stitches!
