I started to take out the pink blocks that were arriving and put them to one side until I had enough for a little girl's quilt.
The quilt is made up of blocks from around a half a dozen different quilters and really is this bright and cheerful- I haven't touched the colours up on my computer at all.
And the back this time - complete with one of the blocks with words on upside down just because I seem completely incapable of getting everything the right way up.
And a vague attempt at a final artistic shot.
Thank you.
Hi You made again a great quilt and I was surprised reconizing my blocks in it. You 've done a great job with them!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute. Great job and it doesn't matter if the writing is upside down on a couple of the blocks .. that just makes it okay no matter which way it is turned. About two years ago a friend of a friend passed on to me a bunch of lovely batik blocks. They are mostly orphans and I just didn't know what to do with them ... until now. :D As soon as I have a good amount quilted up I'll be sending them along.
ReplyDeleteThere are some stunning blocks in this one! One little girl is just going to love this.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beauty!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I went to buy wadding today (for the blocks) and a friend bought it as her donation to the quilt drive! She hasn't even seen your blog posts, just heard me talking about it...
Sweet of your friend. I think often, when people know what we are doing, they do want to help in whatever way they can.
DeleteAnother beauty! And I wouldn't sweat about something being upside down. You're doing a TERRIFIC and BEAUTIFUL thing with this project!
ReplyDeleteLast night I quilted 19 more blocks which await trimming. I made them about 13.5" to start with and then square up with a 12.5" sq. ruler. I have another stack to quilt and 19 all ready to go. I think there will be close to 60 when all is said and done. I did offer to accept blocks from my small group of Mod Quilt Guild friends here in Santa Barbara, so will wait until after our April 1 meeting to get this package in the mail to you. Once I do you will see that I have used a lot of the same fabrics for backings and that the blocks are sometimes in pairs or groups of three. I envision them looking good spread out over a bunch of quilts, but please feel free to do whatever you think will be best. I'm so happy to help! After 18 m onths of illness and an issue with my neck and shoulder making it hard to baste and quilt large items, it has been a truly joyful experience working on these blocks for your project.. and the quilts' ultimate recipients! Thanks again for providing all of us with the opportunity!
It’s amazing how well all those blocks work together! Another wonderful quilt!!
ReplyDeletewhat a great quilt again! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm in awe of you and the people who have left comments here. Loving the pink theme.
ReplyDeleteAnother great quilt. How are you doing them so fast? Thanks to everyone who left lovely comments about my blocks in number 8.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing, it is going to make a little girl very happy!
ReplyDeleteA great idea to put the pink blocks aside. They have made a delightful quilt and you would never know the blocks came from several different quilters. One little girl is going to be a very happy bunny.
ReplyDeleteWow, you are really getting these together! My box of 17 is wraped and ready to leave tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWOW! thats a LOT of pink!! lol xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet quilt! I don't think it matters one bit that the writing is upside down – it just depeds on how you look at it (either direction.) It's the love the children will see and feel. All of the Soy Amodo quilts are so beautiful and sweet.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant xxx
ReplyDeleteI love this one in all it's girly splendour!
ReplyDeleteStunning blocks here!
