Soy Amado No.16

This one has some wildlife on it.

An owl that looks like it's been imbibing.

It came with a mate that's going into the next quilt

And a rather beady-button-eyed bird.

Which have formed to make No. 16

I'm giving you the back first, just because I never do and I need to keep you on your toes and not nodding off please.

Unlike those birds in the second row that are actually lying down with their feet in the air because that's what that particular breed of bird does when it nods off.

 In case you were wondering.

And here is the front.

My younger daughter has offered to make me this mosaic thingy that brings the Soy Amado quilts up, one after the other.

I'm thinking I need a stage goal for that so when I've done 20 quilts we'll indulge ourselves with a bit of a virtual show and tell.

Meanwhile, I'm going to have a wind down now and step away for most of April. Please keep the blocks coming though, as then I shall be refreshed and ready to carry on.

Thank you.

  1. I hope the Easter bunny is good to you this year ;) Lovely quilt to finish on. Rest assured knowing that there are 12 lovely ladies making blocks for this project while you have your feet up!

    1. JoJo, are there twelve local or U.K. quilters that you know are doing this? If so, that's great!

    2. Hi Liz, the 12 ladies (me included) are a bee in the UK and it's my month, so we're making blocks for another quilt. I was going to get them to make donkeys, then after writing the pattern up, I thought better of it, so we're going simple instead :)

    3. Simple is nice... but if they're doing simple maybe you can talk them into more than one each? ;)

    4. They are all doing two and some of them have said they will quilt them too. I wanted to try and keep to the same size as the quilts Alison has made. Watch this space!

  3. I am interested in knowing if all the blocks with the bold black text on a white background have been contributed by one individual. If so, they have contributed an enormous number of blocks.

    1. I agree. And I ADORE that fabric but don't have an Ikea near me. The closest one is a two hour drive away and I was last there 3 years ago. I would buy a bolt of that print if I could!

    2. I live pretty close to two different IKEA stores and neither one ever has that fabric!

  4. I just posted some more blocks on your Flickr page. Up to 79 now. I was going to mail them this week in honor of our daughter's birthday, but if you are taking the month off, I may way a bit longer. Have you noticed how long it takes for packages to reach you from the U.S.? Enjoy your well-deserved break Alison! Hope it's a fun month for you!
