Soy Amado No. 61

No. 61 is brown.

Like very brown.

I only bring it up because so many quilters seem to have an aversion to brown.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: brown is good. Brown is your passport to gently changing from one colour group to another, all the while retaining warmth and flow.

Black and white will stop your colour flow. It will make (imo) the quilt less warm.

That said, every colour has its place in a quilt.

Rather like the quilting going on in that animal print block

And that includes brown.

  1. Yes, I can see what you mean about brown. The turquoise really zings, perhaps because it contrasts so much with the brown?

  7. There's some serious quilting skills in no. 61 (61???? amazing). The brown… I am very guilty of not using it in quilting. I'm not even really sure why I don't use it more. You're right though, it does a clever job.

  8. I know you're right and that brown is a useful colour...I just don't like it! Having said that, this quilt is lovely and the texture of all that fabulous quilting must feel marvellous!

  9. I don't know how you do it, but you mange to put together all those disparate blocks and have them turn into a fabulous quilt. Another great finish.
