A rainbow quilt

I've never made a rainbow quilt before.
They just seem too ordered and not random enough for me.

I thought I'd have a go though.
Just because I thought I should.

Fabrics were picked.

And the decision to go with a Flying Geese block was made, with much cutting ensuing.

And much boringly essential trimming with the Bloc-Loc ruler.

I sewed one row up and then pondered my next move.

And then over the past couple of weeks, I've slowly, slowly added to it.

Until today, when 286 Flying Geese units later,  I was finally done.

I enjoyed making it but I think I am hankering after a quilt with slightly more wild fabrics now.

Linking up to Finish It Up Friday

Just need to decide what the pattern will look like and then cutting will commence.

  2. It's beautiful, and the perfect quilt to look at on such a dreary cold day as today.

  3. Love! I like the light blues and others that you used as background fabrics. I need to branch out with backgrounds.

  4. Love it! By breaking up and mixing about the pattern as you have, it introduces a bit of a wild side. It is certainly not staid in any way!
You could always go crazy with something bold on the back.

  5. It's a lovely lively, colourful quilt, but doesn't have your usual exuberant selection of patterns. I think this is an example of Tick, done that, fabulous in its way but not to be repeated.

Would you recommend the Block-Loc ruler?

  8. Wow, it's lovely. I, too am not normally into the orderliness required by a rainbow quilt, but I love yours. Thanks for the inspiration.

  12. Beautiful! Rainbow+ geese: love it. Good thing you sewed them over a few weeks because sewing the same (small block might be boring. Or addictive? Anyway 😍😍😍
