Information on the charity is here.
So I took the second charm pack that Katy kindly offered up on her blog to those who were prepared to make a quilt for the charity, cut it up in to half square triangles and got as far as this
The spotty dotty fabric is my own |
I'm thinking it's suitable as a gender neutral teenagers quilt |
Just to try something different, I did wavy diagonal lines either side of the seams and make sure the stitch length was set to maximum so the waves were very gentle.
It probably shows up better on the lighter back.
Both quilts will be off shortly to Siblings Together.
Meanwhile, for those of you in the British Isles wondering what has happened to 'summer' - I think I have found the answer.
Your new quilt is stunning! It makes me want to get out the hsts again. The other one is amazing too, they will be well loved I am sure.
ReplyDeleteI think the black and white HSTs really add a lot to the quilt design. It looks wonderful. And I am loving the final photo about summer!
ReplyDeleteHi, Love the quilts for charity, I saw your article in the Quilter today and thought I would pop by to say Hi!Seems we have been blogging about the same length of time. Isn't paper piecing a drag when you have to remove all those papers, but keep up the good work the quilt will be worth it in the end!! It's lovely! Keep up the good work!

Monkey Business and Quilts
fun quilt! I often don't like using large dots like that though, but yours is fun! I love your heart one.... and the british summer thing is just like Denmark, though the last few years they've had it HOT there.... I don't want this summer to be too hot in NC where I'm at now though, being 7mths pregnant, due in mid august....
ReplyDeleteAwesome use of the charm pack. The other fabrics look great with it too. You aren't the only one with lousy weather. Yesterday I wanted to build an ark ; )
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The black and white really make it pop!
ReplyDeletelol. Love that graphic. I would happily send you any heat we get over 80F (27C). My feet get all swollen by the end of the day if it gets too hot here. I'll trade you for some rain - I've got to go out and water our huge garden today. :)
LOL! Hysterical graphic about summer. The quilt is so cute. I love the binding, too! The big polka dots look super awesome in this configurations. Thanks for sharing :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm in awe! I love this use of a charm pack, and adding the dots and black and white is genius. To be honest I'm a bit envious of your talent. I don't think I could come up with that in one million years! Bravo
ReplyDeleteLove the addition of the black and white! I'm sure both of your quilts will be much loved by their new owners.
ReplyDeleteVery funny graphic too!
Brilliant my dear, not the Summer fail - that's just cr@p x
ReplyDeleteI really love how this second quilt turned out. Perfect for a savvy teenager.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilting too xxxx
You've done it again! Created a magnificent quilt, that is! I love the way you use colour...
ReplyDeleteI love the quilting you did on this-- what an awesome project for a good cause!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Love both designs. I especially like the "what happened to summer?" graphic. We are having the same problem in the Seattle area of the US, although that's not totally unusual. We often get summer about the 3rd week of July, or maybe for an odd day or two in August.
ReplyDeleteNooooooo! Is Autumn on it's way then?
ReplyDeleteAlison the quilt looks great and I'm sure it will be much admired by it's owner! and her/his friends!
I had saved my copy of the Quilter magazine because I knew I would get an uninterupted read today... WELL DONE for getting your article published xx I am telling people ....! "KNOW" her !! xx
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteSummer?
Great quilts! Both of them (though I liketheone with all the hearts the best. Esp. becauseof the team effort.
What'sthisabout youin a quilting magazine??
I might have to try Spain, too..... Love that
ReplyDeleteI really like how your quilt turned out! At first when I saw the yellow and grey circles I wasn't too sure, but you did a stunning job.
ReplyDeleteI love it! It is completely different to the other one.
ReplyDeleteI love that quip about the English summer! My dad, an Aussie who married a Brit, used to say he remembered the English summer - it happened one Wednesday afternoon!
Oh how true that is. We had summer here last Thursday 5th July and its rained ever since!!
