Giveaways are like buses, you wait ages for one and then they all come along at once.
This time, I am joining in the fun with the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day because a) I've never done it before and b) I have another couple of jelly rolls that I know I'm never going to get around to using so I'd like someone else to put them to good use.
First one is this:
It's Beach House by Moda and would like to make your house its new home.
Second one is this:
Natures Choice by April Cornell, also by Moda.
To enter, please leave a comment telling me what you like most about the quilting process (Well I'm presuming you're a quilter as there are jelly rolls involved in this giveaway). For me, it is right at the beginning, picking all the different fabrics to go together and the more colourful the better.
If you already follow and you'd like me to include some scraps from my over-flowing scrap bins, please leave a second comment saying 'scraps' so I'll know if you are interested or not.
The giveaway stays open until 16 December after which I'll use Mr Random Generator to pick TWO separate winners. Happy to ship wherever you may live.
Good luck.
Oh and click here for a linky list will be up for lots and lots of other goodies being given away.
I'm definitely a fan of the 2nd or 3rd step, the piecing.. i hate initially starting a project and like it more when its coming together -- binding too, because its the final touches! thanks, these jelly rolls are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWell that's a hard question . I would have to say the piecing and seeing it all come together. Thanks for an awesome prize : )
ReplyDeletemy favourite step is the last step. Handsewing the binding down. I love that you get to snuggle under your almost finished quilt and you can really see how close you are to being finished :)
ReplyDeletescraps!
ReplyDeleteMy most favorite part is picking it all out and doing all the designing. Then, my second favorite thing is to do free-motion quilting on my machine. So much fun!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is putting the puzzle together. I love taking the cut pieces and sewing them together. Thanks for the very generous giveaway :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the picking-the-design part but I really really love the putting it all together part best. Seeing it go up on the design wall (which is really the bed in the guest room) and start to have a recognizable form is so fun!
ReplyDeleteScraps! Gotta love 'em!
ReplyDeleteI love the peaceful process of making something beautiful and lasting for someone from YOU..out of pieces of other things.
ReplyDeletescraps :) ooooh
ReplyDeleteScraps from you would be lovely indeed!
ReplyDeleteOh that question is too hard! I love it all - just not the layering and basting!
ReplyDeleteI love that feeling of accomplishment when a block/section is complete.. I also love joining blocks/sections together and seeing the quilt top pull together.
ReplyDeleteScraps for sure! <3
ReplyDeletei love the quilting the best in the quilting process~heck, you're almost done when you get to this stage.
ReplyDeletesuch a great giveaway. thanks for the chance!
niki in az
SCRAPS~heck ya!
ReplyDeletewould love them.
I actually make baby quilts for charity, so these scraps always come in handy :)
holiday hugs from Arizona.
I love the planning. I spend ages hunched over the computer, debating colour placement and different fabric lines. Does the reality ever come up to the expectation... I live in hopes!
ReplyDeleteOh scraps! Yes please! I'm all about scrappy!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite part about quilting is finishing the final stitches of binding and giving the quilt to its new owners (or snuggling under it myself, if I'm keeping it). I really enjoy giving quilts to friends and family who understand the process that goes into making one.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this generous giveaway!
Jen (jen.arnall-culliford AT tiscali.co.uk)
LOVE those fabrics! My favorite part is going to the fabric store, and touching all the wonderful cottons- then looking at them again when I'm home and trying to decide what beautiful pattern I will sew them into!
ReplyDeleteI like the cutting most - because I usually invite friends over and we have good food and special treats ... so I guess I like it because of the food
ReplyDeleteI'm a garment sewer and have only made one quilt but I loved hand-stitching the binding! Felt just like Ma Ingalls with my quilt in my lap while the family played around me.
ReplyDeleteI like the cutting and put all together. Thanks for this generous giveaway.
ReplyDeleteScraps!!Please,I`d love them.Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteI like parts of each step. Picking the fabric is in the top 2 of things I like. The other is putting the binding on. Seeing the completed project.
ReplyDeleteScraps please and thankyou
ReplyDeleteThey are both beutiful Jelly rolls, and would be right at home with my own personal JR Mountain! lol I love every part of the quilting process, from choosing pattern and fabrics/colours to the quilting (especially the quilting!) and even hand sewing the binding down :)
ReplyDeleteScraps! he he, other peoples scraps are so more interesting than my own :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the process is when I put together all of the blocks. It's amazing to get a good sense of what the quilt will look like!
ReplyDeleteScraps! Still building my own scrap collection...
ReplyDeleteChoosing fabric...and when it is done!
ReplyDeletei also love choosing the fabric, and hand sewing the binding on at the end...so relaxing!
ReplyDeletethanks for the chance to win!
scraps! why are other people's scraps so much more fun than your own?
ReplyDeletepicking the fabrics and seeing the top done :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite bit is picking the design and choosing the fabrics. It's pretty satisfying when you take the finished quilt out of the washing machine to dry because it means it's nearly ready for snuggling under!
ReplyDeleteScraps! :-) Please - see I couldn't just yell scraps and withdraw...
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting for years. I love choosing the fabric and pattern and binding it off. The cutting, sewing and quilting can be a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteOooh my favorite part?? So hard to choose! I would have to say the choosing of the fabric, the choices made along the way, and the anticipation of seeing it all come together! That's definitely my motivator! Although i enjoy the whole process start to finish! Thanks for the chance to win! :D
ReplyDeleteScraps! Yours look so much better than mine.
ReplyDeleteMy fave, believe it or not, is handstitching the binding!
ReplyDeleteScraps! (I follow you via google reader...hope that counts!)
ReplyDeleteI like the feeling of completion just after I finish quilting it all together (until five seconds later when I remember “crud monkeys, I still have to do the binding!”).
ReplyDeleteBut I have to say that I like all of it *except* for basting the sandwich together.
And scraps! I always love seeing your posts pop up in my reader…
ReplyDeleteI love picking the fabrics as well. So much fun!! I also really love the quilting part. I am really having fun with FMQ lately :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I love Scraps . . yes please :) (following)
ReplyDeleteshopping. and then cutting. my absolute favorite parts : ) hee hee. My google profile is private, but you can contact me at www.3beansstudio.com
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance!!!
I love seeing the top come together when I'm piecing :)
ReplyDeleteourbusylittlebunch(at)hotmail(dot)com
SCRAPS!
ReplyDeleteand I follow with Google reader :)
I love seeing each block as it is done. Makes me grin!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love picking out fabric and colour, I absolutely love finishing the binding. It means my least favorite parts are done (the quilting and attaching the binding), but I can snuggle under the quilt and hand stitch the binding down and just enjoy the process.
ReplyDeleteI love your jellies and would be very happy to take them off your hands - great giveaway! My favourite element of quilting is the piecing aspect - I love piecing so much and could happily just make lots of quilt tops.
ReplyDeleteI don`t know if anyone has said `yes` yet (probably) but `yes` - oh and scraps!
ReplyDeleteOh I got confused - no I can`t do another PIF! Sorry!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what my favourite part is as I love it all (well, except maybe ironing metres of fabric for the back and the tacking...and the hoovering that I have to do before I do the layering and tacking...maybe I could do without those steps!) but I do love playing with possible designs and fabric combinations and pondering different ideas in my head. I've really enjoyed reading what other people enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAt the risk of sounding like I'm in a fish and chip shop...'Scraps please'!!
ReplyDeleteSCRAPS!
ReplyDeleteHAPPILY FOLLOWING YOU-GFC!
THANKS FOR SHARING!
I'M WITH YOU I GET SO EXCITED PLANNING THE PROJECT! I DO LOVE PIECING+QUILTING TOO,BUT THAT INITIAL IDEA OF WHAT THIS PROJECT WILL BE+WHO IT WILL BE FOR,IS SO FUN !!!
ReplyDeleteMERRY CHRISTMAS ♥
I love it all, but probably piecing is the best part. And seeing the finished project.
ReplyDeleteI think my favourite step is the planning - playing around with all the possibilities, not keen on cutting but also enjoy the piecing as I see my design coming to life. I have a bit of a love hate relationship with the actual quilting - I think I am too much of a perfectionist and machine quilting tends to stress me out, although when it is all done it is worth the effort as I give it to someone or snuggle up myself under it. Thanks for the giveaway. C
ReplyDeleteI also follow you and always love scraps to add to my stash.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I'm not unique in that my favorite step of quilting is fabric selection - I have such a love affair with fabric that pairing it up and coming up with a color palette is pure joy! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI'm also a follower and I'd LOVE some scraps :)
ReplyDeleteI love piecing the top the best. I love seeing how it looks when it is all pieced together
ReplyDeleteI am now a follower and SCRAPS! I love fabric hoarding lol
ReplyDeleteDesigning is definitely my favorite part of the quilting process. I get far more designing done than I do actual sewing!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful fabrics. I've never owned a jelly roll...it'd be fun to win one.
ReplyDeleteI think I like completing the quilt best. I feel a sense of accomplishment. I haven't done many, but look forward to getting more under my belt. =)
Thanks for a chance to win.
I follow with GFC and don't really need scraps, I have a ton of my own. =) Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI like choosing fabrics to go together

I love giving a finished quilt to its recipient.
ReplyDeleteI love the planning - sketching out blocks in one of my (many) squared paper notebooks and working out how many of each part I need to make. I have many more plans than I'll ever make!!
ReplyDeleteI'm up for scrps too!!
ReplyDeleteI love the shopping and picking just the right fabrics. I get very anxious though when I have to cut the beauties I found!
ReplyDeleteI love the finished face! I hate edging.. yuck.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to win your giveaway! Happy Holidays to you and your family <3 xo
krencamp (at) gmail (dot) com
i like the creation process of where to place each fabric
ReplyDeleteI'm only partway through my first quilt, but piecing was definitely the best bit so far!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite part is the piecing, the way the pattern seems to magically appear...I love it. Thanks for a lovely giveaway. Linda
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is attaching the binding. That makes it look like a "real" quilt to me, and it's very exciting.
ReplyDeleteI love choosing fabrics to go together and then as I begin to sew I love seeing what I pictured in my head come together.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite part about quilting is when I'm snuggled up on the couch with my 3 girls hand sewing on my binding! It's the point where you know your almost finished!!! Thanks for the chance to win a wonderful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteScraps!
ReplyDeleteI love the finished project and the compliments on it
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the process is picking the fabric. :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely give away you have here, love thoses colors. Thank you for the opportunity The best proces of quiltmaking for me is playing with colors, each time find some new combinations. I love scrappy quilts!
ReplyDeleteI love everything about quilting, specially buying fabrics1
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower, I could do with some scraps. thank you
ReplyDeletei love planning!! and quilting - when you sew the three layers together, it becomes something more than the sum of the pieces!
ReplyDeletePicking the fabric is the best part. The April Cornell fabric is so lovely!
ReplyDeleteIroning. I love ironing, I find it very soothing.
ReplyDeleteI love hand sewing the binding!!
ReplyDeleteScraps!!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite part is the piecing. Have yet to try a Jelly Roll - these are so pretty. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteScraps!!
ReplyDeleteI love binding all of the pieces together, because I know its almost finished.
ReplyDeletePicking the fabrics and seeing how they'll all go together at the end.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'm just starting out, so I've never done the entire process yet. Theres a lady starting a quilting ministry at my church, so I'm hoping to win these goodies and then learn as we quilt!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is piecing the quilt top. I love seeing little pieces of fabric turn into a quilt.
ReplyDeletemy favorite part is cutting and laying the fabric on the design wall - trying different stuff out, seeing which fabrics look best - and i do like chain piecing. quilting is the part i'm less confident about, so my pile of tops keeps growing! i'd love to have beach house come live here!
ReplyDeletei'm a follower who adores scraps!
ReplyDeleteActually I'm not a quilter yet but hope to be soon!! I know I already love picking out the colour combinations, these fabrics look lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway
Sarah @ http://kiwigetscrafty.blogspot.com
My favourite part is definitely picking the fabrics and the pattern, and mapping it out in coloured pencils on a piece of paper. Then seeing the first block come together! I just made my first Sawtooth Star, and I just LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteemailbylili[at]mac.com
I love choosing the fabrics
ReplyDeleteI love playing with all my fabrics!

My favorite part of quilting is selecting fabrics, fondling and rummaging, selecting and de-selecting, it's all good!
ReplyDeleteScraps! Yes!
ReplyDeleteI love both of those rolls! Thanks for the opportunity to win!=)
ReplyDeleteI agree that the fabric selection process is my most favorite part of a quilting project. I use EQ software to "audition" fabrics for the designs that I have created, and then I take liberties in changing things as I go along if that seems appropriate.
ReplyDeletethanks!
I like piecing best
ReplyDeleteScraps yes please!
ReplyDeleteI love the piecing because I don't use patterns most of the time and I take what I visualise in my head and turn it into a quilt top. Sometimes I change from the original idea, sometimes not, but I love the whole process.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is choosing the fabric.
ReplyDeleteScraps please!!
ReplyDeleteToo cool! I love the hand quilting part the best - though truth be told, the only part I don't like is cutting out all the pieces... sheesh!
ReplyDeleteWhoo-hoo! SCRAPS!
ReplyDeleteI love all of it, but piecing the top is probably the most fun.
ReplyDeleteScraps would be lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh, my favorite part of quilting is handstitching the binding. Because I know that I am almost done and can have the joy of giving it away. I love to see the recipient's face when they open the treasure. My favorite to make, baby quilts.
ReplyDeleteHave a very happy Christmas .. b.moews@gmail.com
I like the piecing best, and the cutting LEAST! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower and I'd love some scraps! And is the Pay It Forward spot full yet? If not, I'd like to do it!
ReplyDeleteYep, choosing the fabrics is a great part of the process and applying the binding is also great!
ReplyDeleteAs a quilter, I like selecting the fabrics and quilt design, as well as some of the block piecing. Scraps are scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteI really love the conception and planning phase too! :)
ReplyDeleteScraps! :) Woohoo! Love color! Love scraps! :)

I love it when you're about half way thru and you look at the quilt and think "it's going to be really beautiful".
ReplyDeleteI quilt for World of Charity Stitching. We make items for Ronald McDonald House and nursing homes and we need scraps!
ReplyDeleteI like finishing the last bit of hand sewn binding!
ReplyDeleteI really like to cut, I always cut to much, and when things are coming together. I love to sew the big blocks together. I like the quilting, hate the basting, and don't mind the binding. So too much info. Sorry. Thanks for the giveaway, those are beautiful fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the design process while having the person in mind that I'm making it for and also the piecing, seeing it come "to life".
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is piecing it together - I love that moment when the top is fully together and you can finally see it!
ReplyDeleteI love the feel of the fabric... so the 1st stage picking out the fabric (the feel) and then the color and then everything else falls into place ... thanks so much
ReplyDeleteScraps.... please

ReplyDeleteI love it when I am finally near the end and can see it all coming together.
ReplyDeleteI love designing and piecing. Not so big on cutting or pressing, but I find the whole process of quilting to be so rewarding.
ReplyDeleteScraps...please :) I am following thru GFC
ReplyDeleteI love putting together the fabrics and making piles of different choices. Scraps are always welcome here!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Follower and also a subscriber in Google Reader. Love your Flickr stream and need much more time to view it! SCRAPS YES!
ReplyDeleteThe cutting is my favorite part because I know I have a quilt ready to be made when I have time to sit and sew. Some days I'll cut-out a few different quilts/items and put in bags with pattern so that I always have a hand-piecing and sewingmachine item ready to be worked on.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway. Thanks for participating. I love hand quilting. I find it really relaxing.
ReplyDeleteI would love some scraps.
ReplyDeleteI like the cutting and figuring out what size to cut or how to do it more efficiently. Such pretty fabric you are giving away. Both are new to me.
ReplyDeleteScraps! Would love some - love your blog.
ReplyDeleteThis one surprises even me, but I think I like binding the most.
ReplyDeleteSCRAPS! Oh, please!
ReplyDeletei would say selecting the fabrics colors.
ReplyDeleteI like the sewing together part. Where it starts to look like a quilt and then the quilting where it takes on character.
ReplyDeletePicking the colours, definitely.
ReplyDeleteI've never quilted but my Mom was an award winning quilter and she started to teach me before she passed away. I love the giveaway fabrics, they are so pretty and would love to take up where Mom left off on trying out a quilt of my own! Thank you for such a lovely giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI too love all the mixing and matching. Especially when using fabrics like vintage sheets.
ReplyDeletescraps
ReplyDeleteI think I love all of the steps, except for all the ironing!! But I especially love hand sewing on the binding. Curled up, snuggling with the quilt and admiring it all the while is so satisfying! Thanks for the giveaway. I LOVE jelly rolls!

ReplyDeletelike you, choosing the colours and prints. thanks
ReplyDeletegive some scraps! thanks again.
ReplyDeletechoosing the fabrics and colours like yourself
ReplyDeleteLove the end product and how the colours come together
ReplyDeleteI love the shopping for the fabric! But I also love the making of the quilt. Thanks for the great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI am new to quilting and still saving up for my first big guilt (reds, blues), but making table-runners already. I also like picking the fabrics best in the process.
ReplyDeletescraps
ReplyDeleteSo far my favorite part of quilting is the planning but I'm hoping to move on to actually making something in the new year
ReplyDeleteI love cutting the fabric and figuring out the design dimensions). Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteStill in the process of gathering fabrics for my first quilt, which is going to be bedspread. I know, I know, I should be starting with something small! But since I`m still at this stage, this is my favourite part.
ReplyDeleteI love choosing the fabrics... and I love seeing the finished result!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely starting the quilt by deciding the pattern and choosing fabrics.
ReplyDeleteterrific giveaway!
I love the whole process of quilting, except for basting, but it is the beginning with fabric & pattern choice that I love most. Thanks for an amazing giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love searching for beautiful fabrics. Sometimes it takes me weeks before I've found what I was looking for, but I love it!!
ReplyDeleteNatures Choice by April Cornell would be fabrics I would look for :-)
I have only started my first square quilting but I also enjoyed choosing the fabric. I love fabric.
ReplyDeleteI love the time to myself but I truly love the face of the recipient when they get it!
ReplyDeletescraps
ReplyDeleteI love the binding part, when everything comes together.
ReplyDeletescraps
ReplyDeleteOh lovely fabric, I love that second bundle! My favorite part is having some fabric in front of me, and letting it tell me what it wants to be ;) Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI think I agree with you, it has to be picking the fabrics and the planning. After that I start to cut and sew and that's when I start to mess it all up! At that first stage, it's still pristine!
ReplyDeleteI love that moment when you iron a block flat and see how nice it looks. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI love the process of marrying fabric and pattern, and the satisfaction that comes when you know you have made a good choice.
ReplyDeleteShopping for fabric! The possibilities all feel so wide open.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite process about quilting is sewing the binding on, because that means I am almost finished!
ReplyDeletearranging pieces

I love that moment when it comes together just before quilting, and you start to realize what you've made - that this is real! It's exciting.
ReplyDeletemichaelacking (at) gmail (d0t) com
Binding is my favourite... I always rush everything near the end, just so I can get to the binding... But I machine it, I dont hand stitch.
ReplyDeleteScrappy dappy do dar!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the hand quilting once it is already in the frame.
ReplyDeleteI've only made a few quilts, but love this fabric and would make a cute baby quilt for my little girl.
ReplyDeleteHmmm picking out the right fabric always scares me a little.... cutting yuck! piecing like it! quilting like it!
ReplyDeleteFinishing such a big project...I love that part!
I would love some scraps!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
I love designing the quilt and (surprisingly enough) hand sewing the binding. I find it really calming and love to sit and watch a movie and hand sew at the same time. :) Thanks!!
ReplyDelete
