...which results in hanging around at music exams.
Ant then there are the dance classes...
...ballet...
...modern...
...and tap.
So that as long as I have hanging around to do this quilt will keep growing.
Concept for this quilt pattern is from the book Material Obsession Two although I'm not sure I'm going to follow the layout |
Especially as I am fascinated how this particular one shape, when sewn together, can create so many different looks and new shapes.
Simply beautiful! Great use of fabrics in your blocks!
ReplyDeleteAmazing - the most beautiful blocks I have seen this year! I too can't get my head around the different effects you can get with one pattern just by the use of colour and pattern. Love your fussy cutting!

Wow, love all the completely random colours together, it looks incredible! And I wish I had more hanging around to do. I've actually got Material Obsession 2 and have never clocked that pattern, I'm off to peruse it again right now.
ReplyDeleteFabulous! Your choice of fabrics and the fussy cutting you did work so well together - a great result! Maybe you have seen the similar Rose Star block - easily found on flickr and google - I ended up with 32 blocks before I did the background. I like that your background is made up of different (but similar value) fabrics. It's gonna be a great quilt.
ReplyDeleteI just love those shapes and the fabric is fabulous. You can get so much done when waiting at dance classes. I shall have to have a go and get the book.
ReplyDeleteYou take me back a few years to the time I was working on a large hand applique quilt and got a significant percentage of it done during my girls' dance classes :)
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks too!
Oh the joys of motherhood - I have finally reached the point where random women are asking me "what are those things you are making each week?"
ReplyDeleteGoing to look crazy cool when it's done!
Love the variety of choices you have made in putting your "kites" together!
ReplyDeletewonderful way to spend all thet...waiting xx LOVE the material obsession books x
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are fabulous! Don't you just love hand piecing??
ReplyDeletegorgeous blocks!! I found you through the Quilters Guild magazine ... and so glad to see I'm not the only one who fiddles with fabric whilst waiting for children to finish classes!!
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be beautiful when it's finished. I've never done hand piecing. It's on that always grown list of things to do.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, wow, wow! I had to study each of these pictures for a minute to take in all of the detail-- these are amazing! I love the pattern you've created. Yet again I see an heirloom in progress!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful, such a nice way to hang around.
ReplyDeleteWowee! those are awesome!!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you have fussy cut pieces to create a design within a design.
ReplyDeleteimages that appear are in the kaleidoscope. beautiful work!!!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose Thai dancers - so well chosen - is that another class to come!? Been there - still doing that! Sigh - but perfect for handstitching, knitting, crochet....
ReplyDeleteAll my hanging around is what accounts for my knitting :-) Good to put that time to productive use.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous blocks - lovely fabrics too!
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks, they look fabulous together, I wish I had more time to hand piece.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful - you can't beat some hand stitching for washing away the waiting room blues!
ReplyDeleteThese blocks are simply gorgeous. What a way to while away the time. :)
ReplyDeleteI think they are lovely - such a range of gorgeous fabrics and colours.
ReplyDeleteAmazing block!
ReplyDeleteLove it when you can take a simple shape and make a whole block out of it. Then an entire quilt top from that one shape. Loving all the fussy cut pieces you are using.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThey look like a kaleidoscope, beautiful. Am I right in thinking, (gasp), that they are all hand stitched?!!
