Colour, colour and more colour

There are very few fabrics these days that completely knock my socks off.
We seem to be drowning in an increasingly large sea of new fabric line after new fabric line with not much to distinguish one from the other.

In my opinion of course.

And then along came Mostly Manor from Victoria Findley Wolfe and the orange fabric in particular stopped me in my tracks and I knew I had to purchase some.

So I did.

I've never made a quilt with half triangle rectangles before so that's what I decided to do, using as many bright fabrics as I could find.

It was my first time using the Bloc-Loc ruler to trim this particular block and it took me a while to get a hang of it.

The long evening shadows meant it became very difficult to photograph it without inadvertently appearing myself.

How can you not want to hoard that orange fabric?!

I feel it's a happy, cheery quilt which hopefully signals the arrival of warmer, sunnier weather.

  1. Stunning quilt I'm curious what took you to get the hang of the block locks because I still am trying to get used to them

  5. Yes- this Mostly Manor collection is definitely underrated and undervalued, which I guess I am fine with, because it's not sold out yet! Lovely quilt!

  8. Gorgeous colours! I used to really dislike the colour Orange but since I have been quilting orange has crept up on me and I now love the colour and use it a lot. Haven't seen this particular fabric before - but you are right - it is stunning. Love your Half triangle rectangles. The back is delicious!

  11. I'm so with you on that orange, the pink roses on the orange background is one of my favourite combinations. It's a fabulously warm and sunny quilt, and that late afternoon light is perfect to really make it glow.

Lovely quilt - did you only mix in L's Basics by Lecien? (I love how the almost solid oranges work with that floral.)

  23. I know where you can find it if not at your local quilt shop! Me! Your quilt is beautiful! Please request your ships to purchase the mostly manor or upcoming Meadow storm line! Shop owners are off to quilt market next week where they make their shop purchases. This helps all around.

    1. Shops! Not ships, of course...

    2. There are no 'local quilt shops' on my tiny island; hence the link to an online purchase!
