Saving the best till last

I am finally finished hand quilting my Emperor's Wheel quilt and I feel a little lost.

For the past six months, when I've had some spare evening moments, I've stitched away at it.

I've straight line quilted it fairly densely, which has taken time but been completely worth it.

I am reliably informed the quilt is being held upside down - oops

It's given it a fantastic texture.

I originally blogged about the piecing of the quilt here which gives details of the pattern I purchased from Chris Jurd. It's been a brilliant pattern to just use up all those random scraps and will definitely be a family heirloom.

I just need to find something else now to do in spare evening moments.

  2. That's an epic piece of work, and you should be justifiably very proud of yourself. There's really only one solution to the slightly lost feeling: start another quilt, quickly! Hope your New Year is a wonderful one, with best wishes from Down Under.

  6. Amazing. Just amazing. It must have been so much fun to quilt this! Did you use perle cotton? I was studying some of your stitching and it looked like it was variegated thread, too. It's sad when it's over, isn't it. Time for the next masterpiece.

  8. Upside down or not, it's still a masterpiece! Shame you don't enjoy EPP to keep your fingers busy ... looks like you'll just have to make another awesome quilt to hand quilt instead :)

  12. You described your earlier finish as 'rich and moody and luxurious and eclectic', and this one is too!

  13. It looks great! It looks a bit like Mickey Mouse upside down. :) You could hand quilt your "Self Indulgent" quilt, but I think you need to start an epic hand pieced quilt. You could hand piece a La Passicallia with me. Ummm...maybe not, you would totally finish yours a year before me. Happy New Year!
