Happy New Year

A break from blogging but not necessarily from quilting.

I've finished the whopper of a quilt that turned out to be my Modern Whimsy one.

Quilted in a simple grid system with a white thread.
The binding is a Kona solid -  Chartreuse - one of my favourites.

Inside shot because the wind was being too windy, hence the colours are not looking so bright.

For the back I took two of the Modern Whimsy fabrics, along with the Kona Chartreuse as well as Kona Cyan and Jade and cut them up into five inch squares and really randomly pieced them. Just to add to the randomness and to keep the eyes interested, I added in bands of Kona Jade and Cyan and one rogue block from another Modern Whimsy fabric from the front of the quilt.

It's been a long while since I have made/quilted a quilt this large on my sewing machine but it is completely do-able.

Penguin shot?

Daughter No. 1's shadow on the quilt as she took the picture as the quilt was too heavy for her to hold.
Me, holding the quilt line but with tongue hanging out in deep concentration.

Happy New Year!
