Soy Amado No.35

The common denominator for No. 35 was blocks made up of squares.

They were all dark or medium coloured fabrics so I thought they'd all kind of be happy together.

Batiks make brilliant sashing strips in between the blocks. I had quite a bit of it and as my tastes have changed, I haven't really been using it.

The different shades and movement in the batik fabric give a nice soft feel in some of the quilts.

I think I've used up over half my batik stash which felt good.

Today's exotic quilt location was brought to you by The Little Chapel, reputedly the smallest chapel in the world.

  1. I've been there! We went on a school camping trip to Herm for a week when I was 12 and we had a day out on Guernsey. We also had a 36 hour thunderstorm whilst there and I had my felt tip pens in my rucksack (without the prescribed bin liner inside) and I had batik clothes afterwards! It was the 80s though, so all my clothes were very pastel :/ I love the photos. You are right about the batik strips; they really work well.

  2. Seeing as though your son is shy, that must be hubby holding the quilt up? Another blessing on its way to Mexico. Good job

  3. A beautiful quilt in a beautiful setting. I think your local tourist bureau should use some of your photos . They would make wonderful promotional posters! Good use of your stash, using your batiks for sashings.

Are you liking the batiks visually or technically, or both?
