Soy Amado No. 31

No. 31  is on location at the most south easterly tip of our island.

It's a sort of 'fifty shades of grey' kind of a quilt - each block was picked because it had a reasonable amount of grey in it and I thought that would tie the blocks nicely together in one quilt.

And there was one other car in the car park with PEOPLE in the car which meant older daughter refused to hold the quilt up in public with PEOPLE looking because that's so not COOL.

Luckily, her friend had no such qualms and appears to be wearing the quilt because of the gusting wind.

And the back.

And some close-ups for you.

Big thanks to Erica who sent the star blocks (black and white dotty backing fabric) and if anyone else wants to lay claim to any of the other blocks, please say.

It's another personal favourite.

  3. Yup, loved it on IG and love it ore here with the more detailed photos. Love that the daughter refused to hold it too. Helen is at that stage too. Mostly I am not allowed to talk if there is anyone in a fifty mile radius that might overhear. And I obey here instructions explicitly. Bwahahaha!

  4. Ha, I'm an introvert, so I get the uncool holding up of things in public feeling ;) I am so glad an extrovert was there to hold it up, it's beautiful!

  5. I like the friend's boots/shoes! This might be my new favourite SA quilt. Loving the surly daughter too. My mum used to talk to anyone, anywhere, which I was always so embarrassed by (and still does) but I am no longer embarrassed about it. There's hope hahahaha x

  10. After posting that comment, I started thinking about how many hours you are putting into this, and I decided I would like to help, if I'm not too late. Please let me know, and I will get some blocks ready before the end of the week. I read your initial post and the update and I need to get off my behind and get involved in the "do good" things :-)

    1. Jodi, I think you will find this project very gratifying. I find it downright addictive and wish I wasn't in the US with shipping so expensive. But the more you send, the cheaper it works out per block. :) Thanks for joining us in supporting Alison!

  12. Alison I love this quilt! I like the contrast with the joining strips on the back too. They are all so interesting to look at!
I made the grey/yellow "economy block" as well as two of the striped blocks.

  13. to anyone reading this and sending blocks to Alison - I asked her the other day if she would appreciate lengths of leftover binding and she said yes. She confirmed that she cuts her binding strips 2.5" like I do.... I'm also sending her a stack of the 13" long joining strips for joining the individual blocks. It might be great if someone could make some of the WOF joining strips for her too.... Alison?

  16. Another great quilt. Again, very different. You are right to go with a base colour and then pick blocks which contain that particular colour. Works well.

  17. I love grey backgrounds, and it's so much fun to see each quilt so individual and all beautiful. I'm excited to see two of my blocks in here, turns out they are called Arkansas Traveler!
